Salon Nouvelle:
Where grown men become little girls ... and love it!

by Suzanne Kammlott

"Salon Nouvelle is a cross-dresser's dream come true. An elegant space appointed in ultimate feminine fuss and finery, pretty smells, sensuous textures, soft lighting, and lots of rose motifs. A campy yet tasteful icon of St. Vivian, Patron Saint of Cross-Dressers, hangs in a gilded frame above the dressing room. Here, the male of the species can unhinge their rigid masculinity and enjoy and express their softer side in a safe, pleasant environment. Five months old, Salon Nouvelle offers a variety of individualized programs, such as ...Young Miss Thing, in a fun, frivolous fantasy world for both budding and full-bloom transvestites. Shaped by a fetching black corset, Natasha Savoy, one of the three entrepreneurs creating this service, graciously gave us a tour. Afterwards, we sat down for tea and girl talk."

How did you get interested in helping this community?
In the mid '70s, I was vacationing in Lima (Peru) when I fell in a ditch by a street corner and three men in tight jeans, platform shoes, and make-up pulled me out. I was blown away. They were great.

Most requested training?
Slut and Strut. Men want to feel objectified, to be transformed into the center of desire, to be acted upon. It's pretty contradictory to how most women think.

How do your clients feel during this alteration process?
They find it "exciting and relaxing." It's not sexual, but it is very erotic. It's good for an adult to be able to play. Then they go on with their normal day-to-day lives.

Any one occupation that dominates?
We get everything from CPAs to construction workers, and even government officials, married men whose wives won't accommodate them.

Take us through the "little girl" role-playing session.
We'll talk, I might have them sit on a lacy cushion on the floor. It's a subtle power exchange, about giving up control. If they're feeling shy, I'll say, "Why don't you look around in the dressing room?" We'll go over pictures of skirts. Modeling is very appealing, the process of reviewing, revealing. They want to show off their panties -- it's a big deal.

What's the appeal of creative dress-up?
I think the potency of lingerie is second only to kryptonite and make-up is the alchemy of the 20th century.

How did you put together the whole Martha Stewart bordello atmosphere?
One of my partners, Mother Teresa, is a costume designer. She made a lot of what you see.
